From 23rd to 26th November 2024, we had the honour of hosting Yuvan Aves, the author of “Intertidal - A Coast and Marsh Diary.” Yuvan’s thought-provoking work invites readers to transcend conventional boundaries between humans and nature, fostering a philosophy of deep animism. During his visit, he engaged with the Scindian community through a series of enriching activities, visit to Fort Biosphere, and talks.
On 24th November, Yuvan led a morning nature walk for teachers in the meadow, offering them a serene and insightful experience of reconnecting with nature, of ways to involve students in learning from nature, and the importance of bees in carrying out pollination. The Fort Biosphere Students’ Core Committee joined him for many immersive walks, where they explored the meadow’s biodiversity, types of flowers, and interesting trivia about plants. On Sunday evening, Yuvan delivered an inspiring talk in the Assembly Hall for the students. He shared his experiences of being an eco-warrior, of appreciating nature as a teacher, and profound ideas on living harmoniously with all forms of life. His activities were not just educational but also deeply reflective, leaving an indelible impression on the Scindians.
