Frank L. Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was presented by the boys of The Scindia School on Tuesday, the 17th of April, 2018. It pits the sweet, innocent Dorothy Gale against the Wicked Witch of the West, who tries to harm her for the ruby slippers which are supposed to have magical powers. Home is one of the central themes of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Dorothy is displaced by the tornado, taken from her home of Kansas and dropped into a fantastical world where she's lost and in peril.
In her quest to reach back to the comfort of home, Dorothy finds the unlikeliest of friends in the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, who, like Dorothy, don't realize that they already have what they're looking for and don't need the Wizard. Each of the characters beautifully portrayed how our apprehensions keep us from being the person we can be. The theatrical skills of the actors were a treat to the eye and transported the audience in to the realm of music and drama.
Though Dorothy finds friends in Oz, home still represents safety, comfort, and familiarity, and in the end she manages to go home to Kansas. Together, the friends defeat the Wicked Witch of the West and complete their journey to Oz, becoming better people in the process. The Principal, Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat congratulated the entire team of the play for such a commendable performance.
